This lot comprises two German dolls featuring bisque socket heads on ball-jointed composition and wood bodies. The first doll is by Heinrich Handwerck and is marked 101 10 1/2 on the reverse of the head. It features brown glass sleep eyes, feathered brows, and an open mouth with four inset upper teeth. The doll is dressed in a blue cotton dress with white starburst patterns and a lace collar, complete with a white cotton chemise, bloomers, and black knit stockings. The second doll is a GH 1904 marked doll featuring blue glass sleep eyes and an open mouth with inset teeth. It is dressed in a white lace-embroidered blouse and a black satin skirt with a wide lace-trimmed hem. Both dolls are fitted with mohair wigs and contemporary black shoes with tan soles. 22 inches and 23 inches. These dolls exhibit expected wear consistent with their age and antique character. The bisque heads are in good condition without visible facial damage. The composition bodies show typical yellowing, surface crazing, and minor paint flaking at the joints.
