Simon & Halbig antique bisque socket-head doll produced for distributor C.M. Bergmann. The head is incised with the marks C M B, HALBIG, S & H, and the mold size 10. The face is detailed with brown glass sleep eyes, painted lower lashes, remnants of mohair upper lashes, and multi-stroke painted eyebrows. The mouth is open with four inset upper porcelain teeth, and the ears are pierced with orange bead earrings. A detached brown mohair wig is present. The doll is mounted ona fully jointed wood and composition ball-jointed body. The ensemble includes a white eyelet lace dress with pink lining, a pink silk ribbon sash, white cotton lace-trimmed drawers, and white knit socks. Height: 24 inches. The doll remains in good overall state with expected wear. The bisque head is free of visible hairlines or chips. The sleep eyes function, and the composition body shows characteristic age-related crazing and finish loss with minor old repairs to the hip sockets.
