Seller: Hailey Thompson Group Affiliation: Gridley FFA Species: Swine Hello My name is Hailey Thompson, and I am going to be a junior at Gridley High School. This is my third year as a member of Gridley FFA. Before joining FFA, I was a member of Manzanita 4-H, where I began my journey in agriculture. I have been raising and showing hogs for seven years. Raising and caring for livestock has taught me the importance of responsibility, dedication, patience, and hard work. This year, I am raising a market hog named Hank. I take great pride in making sure Hank is healthy, happy, and prepared for the show ring. Every day, I make sure he receives the proper nutrition, gets plenty of exercise, and maintains a healthy rate of weight gain. Hank loves being brushed and especially enjoys going on our evening walks together. The time and effort I put into caring for Hank has taught me that success comes from consistency, commitment, and dedication. When I’m not in the barn, you will most likely find me playing a sport. Volleyball is my favorite, and I am an all-season athlete who thrives in a team environment. Being involved in multiple sports, FFA, and school activities has taught me valuable time-management skills and how to balance my responsibilities. I also enjoy being involved in my church community. I attend youth group on Sundays which has helped me grow in my faith. Outside of my activities, I value spending time with my family, whether we are enjoying family dinners, playing games, or going camping with family and friends. This year, I am honored to serve as the Gridley FFA Secretary, and I am incredibly excited for the year ahead. I hope to participate in more public speaking competitions and continue developing my leadership skills through FFA. I am also a member of Student Athlete Leadership, where we work to help athletes become better leaders, teammates, and role models. Through raising livestock, I have had incredible opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. I have attended the FFA State Convention and even had the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. These experiences have allowed me to learn more about agriculture, leadership, and the opportunities available through FFA. The money I earn through my livestock project helps make these educational experiences possible and allows me to continue pursuing my goals.
