CALL ME IF NEEDED. 828.381.2667 RICK Title Suggestion: John Gould Hummingbird Lithograph Description: Framed ornithological print titled "Cyanomyia Cyanocollis, Gould," depicting three colorful blue-necked azure-crown hummingbirds among flowering branches. The image originates from John Gould’s celebrated A Monograph of the Trochilidae, or Family of Humming-Birds, published during the mid-19th century. The lower margin reads "J. Gould and H.C. Richter, del. et lith.? and “Hullmandel & Walton, Imp.? Henry Constantine Richter prepared the lithographic artwork from Gould’s designs, while Hullmandel & Walton printed the plates. Presented beneath glass with gold trim, rose-colored liner, wide fabric mat and gold-tone wooden frame. Overall measurements approximately 32 x 24 inches. Frame displays scattered surface wear; print has light age spotting and toning. The correct full-size proportions, period-style lettering and publishing credits suggest this may be an original 19th-century hand-colored lithograph, but it should be removed and examined for paper type, printing texture and later edition markings before being guaranteed as original. The Minneapolis Institute of Art identifies this subject as Plate 288, dating the design to the 1849–1887 publication period. Minneapolis Institute of Art??
