E.S. Stofer (1886-1958) Kansas City, MO 6.25" long A 'Special Model' call, slightly larger than his typical models from the same period. Walnut barrel with a maple insert. Crisp 'SPECIAL STOFER DUCK CALL' stamp on the barrel. Though little is known about Dr. Stofer himself, who served as a medic in World War I, his calls are incredibly collectible and well known for the volume they were made in. Stofer based his highly popular metal reed calls on a style forged by Tom Turpin (1871-1957). Stofer produced the vast majority of his calls from the 30's through early 50's, during which calls in this style were highly popular with hunters. Stofer sold the calls directly and had advertised in numerous sporting publications at the time. Condition: Very good and original, dime size wax spot to right of stamp
