E.S. Stofer (1886-1958) Kansas City, MO 5.75" long Hard to find, entirely walnut construction insert, wedge, and barrel. Stamped 'STOFER' with no other text on the barrel. Single reed. Both insert and wedge block have the matching number '41' written in pencil. Though little is known about Dr. Stofer himself, who served as a medic in World War I, his calls are incredibly collectible and well known for the volume they were made in. Stofer based his highly popular metal reed calls on a style forged by Tom Turpin (1871-1957). Stofer produced the vast majority of his calls from the 30's through early 50's, during which calls in this style were highly popular with hunters. Stofer sold the calls directly and had advertised in numerous sporting publications at the time. MO 178 Condition: Very good and original Provenance: Picone Family Collection
