E.S. Stofer (1886-1958) Kansas City, MO 5.75" long Classic single reed suck call purchased directly from Stofer by fellow Kansas City, MO sportsman Henry Ciro (1911-1995) who commissioned his friend William (Wilhelm) Rensing (1906-1984) to custom carve the call. Rensing, born in Germany, settled in Kansas City in 1928 and quickly became a staple of history there for his exceptional grand carvings, many of which still exist today in churches, private collections, and government buildings. Few of Rensings customized calls exist, and the ones that do are highly coveted for their craftsmanship. The call has never been offered for public sale before. Henry Ciro and his hunting companion, Sam Armato (1919-2006) regularly hunted Bean Lake together where they would also meet call makers like Dr. Stofer. Upon Ciro's passing, he gifted this call, and others to Armato, and upon Armato's passing he gifted them to his friend Alex Picone. Insert and wedge block have have the matching '20' in pencil. Condition: Excellent and original Provenance: Alex Picone Collection from the below Sam Armato Collection from the below Henry Ciro - purchased directly from E.S. Stofer and personalized by William Rensing
