Striking Loetz Art Nouveau iridescent art glass vase, circa 1900, featuring a rounded amber-gold body with rich metallic bronze, violet, blue, and green iridescence beneath an elaborate dark patinated pewter mount. The glass body is decorated with flowing applied and trailed wave-like bands that echo the sinuous vocabulary of the surrounding metalwork, while the tall neck is encased in an ornate pewter sleeve embellished with scrolling floral relief and stylized blossoms. A pair of dramatic openwork whiplash handles rises from the shoulders in elegant, symmetrical curves, terminating in bold looping crests that give the vessel a particularly sculptural Secessionist character. The underside displays the richly iridescent glass and concentric dark trailing characteristic of the decorative treatment. Pewter-mounted Loetz vessels were produced in a variety of collaborative Art Nouveau forms around the turn of the century, and comparable mounted examples remain a specialized and desirable segment of Loetz collecting. Condition appears generally good from the photographs, with expected surface wear, oxidation and patination to the metal mount, minor scratches and age-related wear to the glass, and no obvious major losses or cracks visible; any unobserved defects should be confirmed by physical inspection. Measures 5.5"H x 5"W x 3.75"D.
