Group of two vintage brooches comprising an oval sterling silver example centered by a large polished brown-gray cabochon with subtle mottled and reflective coloration, framed by an attractive openwork pierced border of repeating looped motifs, the reverse fitted with a hinged pin and safety clasp and clearly stamped “STERLING”; together with an elongated asymmetrical modernist brooch of sharply tapered geometric form, set with a glossy black triangular inlay or cabochon and accented by engraved curving linear decoration near the lower edge. The black-set brooch is unmarked, and its metal content is therefore not guaranteed, though its sculptural form and restrained geometric treatment give it a strong mid-century modern appearance. Both retain their pin fittings and exhibit expected surface wear, scratches, tarnish, oxidation and signs of age; the oval cabochon shows natural-looking internal variation and surface wear, while the black inset appears generally intact from the photographs. Comparable vintage sterling cabochon and black-stone brooches remain actively collected in the secondary market. Measure 1"H x 1.25"W and 1"H x 2.75"W
