Extensive assembled collection of antique and vintage paper ephemera housed in multiple period boxes and scrapbooks, featuring a particularly colorful assortment of embossed and die-cut chromolithographed scraps, trade cards, advertising cards, valentines, floral decorations, birds, animals, children, sentimental figures, and novelty paper pieces. Highlights include numerous German-printed floral and bird scraps, including sheets marked “Printed in Germany”; vivid roses, tulips, snowdrops, flowering branches, songbirds and parrots; assorted animal cards depicting fish, a seahorse, rabbits, squirrels, skunks, birds and other wildlife; Victorian and early 20th-century advertising imagery including “Syrup of Figs,” “Keen’s Mustard,” floral water advertising, patriotic and holiday cards; and an appealing group of Valentine die-cuts with children, cats, dogs, flowers and romantic motifs. Also included is a boxed “Little Kitty Cut-Up and Her Playmates” Animal Pet Dressing Dolls set by the American Colortype Company of Chicago, with surviving cat figure and costume components, along with an album containing numerous mounted chromolithographs, trade cards and scraps. The group spans material characteristic of the late 19th through early/mid-20th centuries, with many pieces retaining unusually strong color and elaborate embossed surfaces; Victorian scrapbooks commonly incorporated precisely these types of chromolithographed trade cards, die-cuts, valentines, animals, flowers and advertising scraps. Condition varies considerably throughout, with expected age toning, foxing, creasing, tears, edge losses, detached and loose elements, adhesive residue, brittle album pages, incomplete sets, worn boxes, tape repairs and general handling wear, while many individual scraps remain visually attractive and collectible. All pages of scrapbbok are detached from spine. Boxes measure 9"W x 13"D and scrapbook is 14"W x 11.5"D.
