A whimsical mid-20th-century glazed ceramic garden seat or side table modeled as a recumbent dromedary camel, richly decorated in a vivid Moorish-inspired palette of deep cobalt blue, chestnut brown, olive green, cream, and touches of rose. The sculptural camel wears an elaborate tasseled bridle and layered saddle cloth ornamented with raised floral medallions, geometric borders, latticework, beaded garlands, and pendant motifs, while the removable square saddle top is centered by a bold circular rosette surrounded by scrolling foliage. Molded fur, harness details, folded legs, and the expressive head give the piece a lively decorative character, and the flat saddle surface allows use as a garden seat, plant stand, or occasional table. Similar polychrome glazed camel-form seats are generally associated with mid-century Moroccan or Italian decorative production. The piece displays scattered glaze rubbing, scratches, crazing, small chips and flea bites, minor losses along raised details and edges, and general surface wear consistent with age and use.
