Signed oil on canvas by V. Coleman, depicting a Rococo Revival-inspired allegorical scene of a reclining nude Venus attended by Cupid, with white doves symbolizing love and fidelity. Executed in the manner of 18th-century French masters such as François Boucher and Jean-Honoré Fragonard, the composition features soft pastel tones, flowing crimson and blue drapery, luminous flesh tones, and an ethereal sky that evokes the elegance and romance of the Rococo period. The painting is signed in red at the lower left and is presented in an ornate gilt wood frame with classical foliate and beaded decoration that complements the work beautifully. The painting presents well overall, while the frame exhibits scattered scuffs, scratches, areas of finish loss, a visible crack to one side, and minor wear consistent with age and handling as shown. Sight measures 35.5" x 23.5". Frame measures 43.75" x 32".
