A vintage Japanese Petri 7S 35mm rangefinder camera, manufactured by the Petri Camera Company, Inc. The camera features a fixed Petri 45mm f/2.8 colour-corrected lens, bearing serial number 898904. It is designed with the characteristic Circle-Eye selenium light meter system, which consists of a circular light-sensitive cell surrounding the front lens element. The body is constructed from metal with a satin chrome finish and a black textured leatherette wrap. Control rings on the lens barrel facilitate manual focus, aperture selection, and shutter speed adjustments from 1 second to 1/500 second, plus Bulb setting. The top plate is engraved with the Petri brand name, and the base is stamped Made in Japan. The camera is accompanied by a matching black leatherette two-piece ever-ready carrying case with an embossed brand logo and an integrated black neck strap. Dimensions: Width approx. 14 cm (measured against a tape measure). Condition: The camera is in good cosmetic condition, exhibiting light surface dust in the crevices and minor signs of handling consistent with age. The leatherette covering is well-adhered and free of significant wear. Lens glass appears generally clear, though internal dust may be present. Mechanical functions, including shutter operation, film advance, and the accuracy of the selenium light meter, have not been tested.
