Springfield 1816 Percussion Conversion Musket .69

This Springfield Armory Model 1816 percussion conversion musket is chambered in .69 caliber and features a 42 inch round barrel, measuring approximately 64 inches with its accompanying socket bayonet. The iron lock plate is clearly stampedwith a three-line mark reading SPRING FIELD 1834 at the tail and bears a US mark in the center. An additional NJ stamp is present on the side plate opposite the lock, signifying New Jersey state ownership. The firearm is fitted with a darkwooden stock and iron furniture, although the buttplate is missing. The stock shows significant material loss and rot at the butt along with a large longitudinal crack near the lock plate. Heavy surface oxidation and pitting are visibleacross the barrel, hammer, and furniture. Note - As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.This musket exhibits expected surface character and wear consistent with its age and history. The wooden stock and metal furniture display typical signs of use including age-related material loss at the butt.
