A 21-piece fine white porcelain tea and coffee service for six produced by Céralene-Raynaud in Limoges, France. The set features the Les Oiseaux pattern, which is a reproduction of an 18th-century Meissen design originally created for theCourt of Saxony. The decoration consists of hand-painted polychrome depictions of European songbirds perched on leafy branches, surrounded by scattered butterflies, moths, and beetles. Each component features a molded basketweave ozierrelief pattern divided into segments. The forms are designed in a classical style with S-scroll handles and blossom-form finials on the lids. The service includes a teapot with lid, a cream jug, a covered sugar bowl with lid, six teacups,six saucers, and six plates. The underside of the pieces features a green underglaze mark reading LIMOGES over a monogram R surmounted by a star, over FRANCE. A blue overglaze mark consists of a rooster emblem with ceralene and the text A.This service shows light expected wear consistent with age and use. The porcelain and hand-painted bird decorations remain in very good condition with no visible chips or cracks.
