This 19th-century oil on canvas landscape by British artist Will Anderson depicts a pastoral scene in Ongar, Essex, featuring cottages and farm buildings situated behind a pond. The work is signed Will. Anderson in the lower right corner and is presented in an ornate, gilded Rococo-style frame with a decorative title cartouche at the bottom center. The verso of the canvas bears a manufacturer stamp from the London art supplier Winsor & Newton.Overall Frame Size: 17.5 x 29. 5nches.Visible diagonal surface scratch and paint loss in the upper left sky area. Widespread fine, stable craquelure throughout, most notable in the lighter pigments. Accumulated surface dirt and grime on both the painting and frame. The frame exhibits cracks, chips, and losses to the gilded surface along with age-related wear.
