1903 D.C. Taylor Advertising Calendar

Scarce 1903 advertising calendar produced for D.C. Taylor, Hardware Merchant, Lucknow, Ontario. Features a large sepia-toned view of Durham Cathedral, England, with period advertising panels and original monthly calendar leaves along the bottom. Inscribed at top “Compliments of D.C. Taylor, Hardware Merchant, Lucknow, Ont.” Lower advertising panel reads “D.C. Taylor – Hardware Merchant – Lucknow, Ontario” and includes the period slogan “Satisfaction – This is the inspiration of our method. The secret of our growth. The builder of our success. ”The surviving calendar pages include January and February 1903, with additional leaves appearing underneath. Mounted on its original metal-edged backing. A particularly interesting piece of early Ontario mercantile and Lucknow advertising ephemera, now over 120 years old. Condition shows considerable age-related wear including staining/foxing, edge losses, tears, curling and deterioration to the backing and calendar leaves. Please see photos.
