One vertically oriented figurative painting depicting a woman in a pale dress holding or observing a butterfly among flowering plants, with a garden or mountainous landscape beyond. The work is apparently on canvas or a similar textile supportmounted on a wooden stretcher and housed in an elaborate gilt-toned ornamental frame. A red lower-right signature is visible but only partially legible as approximately “Lu? A…?”. The frame has extensive abrasion, darkening, finish wear, grime, andapparent losses or chips to raised ornament. The painting surface shows aged texture and scattered marks. The reverse has an exposed wooden stretcher, worn or detached-looking black backing material, dust, edge wear, and handling abrasions. Artist,title, date, authenticity, and reliable dimensions are not established from the available photographs.
