Decorative rectangular trunk or portable case with attached lid, containing one large vintage composition-like doll, a ruffled bonnet, white doll garments, blue satin-like interior padding, and a multicolored patchwork quilt. The trunk featurespatterned geometric metal decoration, riveted edging, a central clasp, and projecting end fittings. No maker’s mark or other legible identifying mark is visible. Original use as a salesman’s sample or purpose-built doll wardrobe is unconfirmed. Thetrunk has extensive scuffing, abrasion, staining, oxidation, corrosion, worn or lifting covering, damaged edges and corners, and aged, torn or detached interior lining. The clasp, hinges, and fittings are not tested; loose wire- or string-likematerial is visible near one end fitting. The doll has pronounced crazing, cracking, flaking, discoloration, abrasions, and paint loss. The bonnet, garments, padding, and quilt are stained, wrinkled, frayed, and worn, with loose threads and possiblesmall losses. Doll features and mechanisms are untested. Human hands shown handling the doll are not included.
