One New Jersey colonial paper currency note dated October 20, 1758, with a denomination of fifteen shillings. The note has printed currency text and an engraved emblem bearing or associated with the motto “PRO BONO PUBLICO.†Includes the clearprotective display holder and white label reading “1758 NEW JERSEY / 15 SHILLINGS / COLONIAL NOTE.†Heavily browned and discolored, with extensive foxing, staining, grime, abrasion, creases, folds, scuffs, softened edges, and damaged corners. Pritext and emblem are partly faded or obscured. The handwritten “20D†appears to be on or visible through the holder and is not the printed denomination. No reverse is shown; paper integrity, repairs, signatures, note number, and authenticity cannofully assessed.
