One Confederate States of America fifty-dollar Treasury note with a central portrait of Jefferson Davis, Richmond, Va. wording, serial number 79894, and a reverse featuring a large “FIFTY.†The note appears marked “Series 2.†The lower printeinscription appears to read “Keatinge & Ball, Columbia, S.C.†It is displayed in an acrylic holder with a black stand; these are presentation equipment, not additional sale pieces. Substantially toned paper with discoloration, foxing or staining,folds, creases, handling marks, surface soiling, edge wear, and abrasions. Irregular losses or torn areas appear along the upper-right, lower-left, and lower-right edges. A handwritten “288†and a tag reading “CONFEDERATE 50†are present. Thelimits inspection of the note’s edges and surface. Authenticity, grade, exact issue date, and detailed variety were not established from photographs.
