One aged folded handwritten personal correspondence item, apparently addressed to “Miss Anna Carter†at or near “Quincy Post Office.†It bears an affixed red United States 3-cent postage stamp with a circular postal cancellation. The stamp iscancellation location, writer, and exact destination are not confirmed. Paper is yellowed with foxing, stains, discoloration, worn edges, and worn folds. Brown ink is faded or difficult to read in places. The affixed perforated stamp hasdiscoloration, surface wear, and apparent fading. The item is shown in a clear protective sleeve, and glare affects legibility. A handwritten date appears to read “December 28th, 1884,†while the cancellation may contain “1888â€; the discrepanremains unresolved. No separate pages or enclosures are clearly visible.
