Pair of perforated Newfoundland postage stamps from the 1939 Royal Visit issue, identified on the accompanying card as Scott #250–251. The pair retains the printed 5-cent base design and is identified by research as the 2-cent-on-5-cent and4-cent-on-5-cent surcharge varieties. One white identification/display card is included. Both stamps show prominent reddish-brown surcharge-like markings; the surcharge numerals, authenticity, and originality of the markings are not independentlyverified from the photographs. Perforations and visible margins appear generally intact. Gum, hinge status, watermark, and reverse condition cannot be verified because the backs are not shown. The card has ordinary handling/display wear and is partlyobscured by black supports.
