R Serial # NSN. .308 Win. caliber bolt action rifle with a 22” barrel. The bore is excellent, mostly glean with strong rifling with some light fouling. Globe Firearms in Ottawa Canada offered sporterized rifles in the 1950’s -1960’s. The rifle was originally a Norwegian military Krag rifle that has been re-barreled with a commercial barrel marked “Special Boehler Steel”. The receiver has been scrubbed of its markings. The blued metal finish on the barrel is in good to very good condition showing light edge wear with thinning, scuffs and scratches along with some scattered spots of light surface rust. The blued metal finish on the receiver, magazine assembly and trigger guard shows edge wear and thinning with scratches and scattered light surface rust freckling. Ramp/bead front sight with a flip-down rear sight. The plain walnut sporter stock is in very good condition showing scattered scratches and sanding marks. Deteriorating red rubber recoil pad. The action works fine. Caution is advised if shooting…. .308 Win. operates at much greater pressures than .30-40 Krag (50-60 ksi vs. 40 ksi for the Krag). Norwegian Krags were made between 1894 and 1945. C&R.
