United States 1-cent Franklin stamped-envelope cut square. Blue indicium on manila/buff paper. This matches the common Scott U294 group (1887–94 and related issues). The cut square is used with a heavy black “CHICAGO ILL.” cancel that largely obscures the design. Margins are average to tight, with typical paper aging and some ink saturation. No major tears are visible.This is a common 19th-century postal-stationery cut square.
