United States 2-cent Washington stamped-envelope cut square. Red (vermilion) indicium on white or cream paper. This matches the common Scott U227–U235 group (1883–86 Plimpton issues and related dies). The cut square is used, with a partial black circular date stamp cancel, average margins, and typical light soiling/toning. No major faults are visible beyond normal wear for a used cut square.This is a common 19th-century postal-stationery cut square.
