Wayne Gretzky Autographed Indianapolis Racers Jersey – Upper Deck Authenticated, Limited Edition 171/250 Exceptional Indianapolis Racers hockey jersey personally autographed by Wayne Gretzky, commemorating the remarkable beginning of “The Great One’s” professional career. Gretzky’s signature is accompanied by an affixed Upper Deck Authenticated hologram and corresponding Certificate of Authenticity. This highly collectible jersey is individually numbered 171 of only 250 produced. The Indianapolis Racers competed in the World Hockey Association, the major professional league that challenged the NHL during the 1970s. The team played at Market Square Arena from the 1974–75 season until ceasing operations during the 1978–79 season. Its roster included several notable players, but the Racers earned their permanent place in hockey history when they signed a 17-year-old Wayne Gretzky in 1978, making Indianapolis his first professional hockey team. Gretzky appeared in eight regular-season games for the Racers, recording three goals and three assists, before being transferred to the Edmonton Oilers in November 1978. He would soon begin the record-shattering career that established him as one of the greatest players in the history of professional sports.
