Porcelain tripod, glazed and painted. Attributed to Pablo Picasso (1881–1973). Formed as a whimsical anthropomorphic vessel with a bulbous body, painted facial features in blue, outstretched hands with circular fingertips, and three leg-like supports decorated with alternating blue stripes and green oval motifs, the piece reflects Picasso’s mature Madoura ceramic vocabulary, defined by playful figuration, bold linear drawing, and sculptural reinterpretation of classical forms. Signed Picasso 24/75 Madoura, indicating a numbered edition produced in collaboration with the Madoura Pottery in Vallauris. Works featuring comparable tripod constructions, stylized faces, and graphic surface decoration appear in the Musée National Picasso–Paris, the Musée Magnelli–Musée de la Céramique in Vallauris, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art, all holding ceramic works that share similar graphic invention and sculptural humor.
