A modernist cast sculpture produced by Austin Productions Inc., titled Mother and Me. The work depicts a stylized, elongated female figure in a standing pose, with a young child clinging to her leg. The figures are rendered with a heavily textured surface, particularly visible in the draped, off-the-shoulder garment of the woman. The sculpture is finished in an off-white matte tone with visible surface pitting characteristic of the casting process. The integral oval base is incised to the rear edge AUSTIN PROD INC 1978 ©. A red circular label to the underside of the base features a maple leaf and the text MADE IN CANADA and FABRIQUÉ AU CANADA. Height approx. 52 cm. Condition: The sculpture is in good condition. There is minor surface soiling and an accumulation of dust within the recessed areas of the textured finish. No visible chips, cracks, or signs of restoration are apparent.
