A cast stone garden pedestal or plinth of square form, designed in a neoclassical style. Each face features a recessed rectangular panel, set above a flared base decorated with a band of ovolo moulding. The flat top surface contains a central square aperture intended for the mounting of a sundial, urn, or garden ornament. The item is manufactured from reconstituted stone with a textured surface and a weathered white finish. Dimensions (measured from tape measure): Height approx. 34 cm (13.5 inches), Width approx. 37 cm (14.5 inches) square. Condition: The pedestal is in a heavily weathered condition consistent with prolonged outdoor exposure. There is extensive biological growth, including moss and algae, and visible rust staining originating from an internal iron reinforcing rod, a portion of which is exposed and corroded in one corner of the top aperture. The piece shows various chips and losses to the edges and decorative mouldings.
