A mid-century modern translucent amber glass apothecary-style jar and matching cover, characteristic of production from the Empoli region of Italy. The vessel features a squat, bulbous body with a pronounced hammered or large optic thumbprint pattern designed to create decorative light refraction. The body is supported by a short, integrated stem on a wide, flared circular pedestal base. The matching lid is of a high-domed form with a tall, tapering neck terminating in a spherical ball finial. The glass varies in tone from a light golden amber to a deep honey-red hue where the material is at its thickest in the base and finial. Several air bubbles, or seeds, are visible within the glass body and base, which are characteristic of manufacturing techniques from the period. Height approx. 30.5 cm (measured against a ruler). Condition: The item is in good vintage condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or repairs to either the jar or the cover. Several air bubbles are present from manufacture, particularly in the base. Light surface wear and minor scratching are present on the underside of the pedestal foot consistent with age and use.
