Artist Biography: Nicholas Hornyansky, RCA (1896–1965) was born in Budapest, Hungary, and immigrated to Canada in 1929. Trained in Europe as both an artist and master printmaker, he became one of Canada's foremost etchers, producing finely detailed architectural, historical, and landscape views across the country.Hornyansky was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA) and exhibited widely throughout Canada and internationally. His works are represented in major public collections, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, and numerous university and municipal collections. His meticulously executed hand-coloured etchings of Toronto, Québec City, Montréal, and other Canadian landmarks remain highly regarded by collectors for their craftsmanship and historical significance.
