Wilson, depicting the village of St-André-Avellin, Québec in 1942. The composition captures rolling farmland leading toward the village skyline, punctuated by the distinctive church steeple, a landmark common to rural Québec communities. Artist Biography: Richard D. Wilson (1920–1994) was a Canadian painter, illustrator, and draftsman educated at Montréal's École des beaux-arts. Throughout a career spanning more than five decades, he became known for his landscapes, architectural subjects, and documentary drawings depicting communities throughout Québec and eastern Canada.Wilson worked in a variety of media including oil, watercolour, and ink, exhibiting widely and earning recognition for his meticulous draftsmanship and sensitive interpretation of the Canadian landscape. His works are represented in numerous public and private collections, and he is documented in the National Gallery of Canada's Artists in Canada database.His finely observed ink drawings remain particularly admired for their clarity, precision, and historical record of rural Canadian communities.
