Engine: 98cc The James Comet motorcycle was a lightweight, two-stroke motorcycle produced by the James Cycle Co. from 1949 to 1964. Specifications: Engine: Villiers Engineering 1F engine, 98cc, 47mm x 57mm. Transmission: Two-speed with clutch. Frame: Rigid frame with girder type suspension. Weight: Approximately 100 pounds (increasing to 165 pounds in later models). Top Speed: Approximately 40 mph. The Comet was designed for economical urban and light-duty use, achieving up to 144 miles per gallon at full throttle.
