Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I Bolt-Action Service Rifle, .303 Brit A British Commonwealth-pattern Lee-Enfield No. 4 rifle featuring the classic turned-down bolt handle, ten-round detachable box magazine, and rear aperture (peep) sight. The rifle retains its full military wood furniture, including a straight-grained stock with brass buttplate, upper handguard with the typical Lee-Enfield ventilation grooves, and dual sling swivels. Markings observed: Receiver stamped "No4 MkI (F) FTR" over "No4 MkI" with serial number. "ENGLAND" marking on the receiver knox-form, along with a Broad Arrow acceptance/ownership mark and a partial date stamp (Reads 1944) Birmingham proof house mark ("BNP" with crown) stamped on the barrel knox area Bolt handle marked with a separate serial number, "65C4037," along with a Broad Arrow and inspection box stamp — note this number does not match the receiver serial, suggesting a bolt swap at some point (common on service rifles that saw arsenal rebuild/repair) "FTR" (Factory Thorough Repair) designation indicates the rifle passed through a post-service arsenal refurbishment program Condition notes: Metal surfaces show an overall blued/parkerized finish with light handling wear, scattered light scratches, and finish thinning at contact points (bolt handle, muzzle band, receiver ring) Stock wood shows a warm reddish-brown finish with visible age separation at the wrist/toe area of the buttstock and various handling dings and scuffs consistent with service use Front sight protector ears and rear aperture sight appear intact and functional Magazine present, showing operational-consistent wear. A beautiful example of an Enfield!
