This is an antique German bisque and composition boy doll, marked 'B 3' on the neck, which correlates with mold and size identification used by top German makers such as William Goebel or Alt, Beck & Gottschalk during the late 1800s and early 1900s.The doll stands 24 inches tall and features a finely painted bisque head with sleep eyes, open mouth, and a mohair wig. The body and limbs are composition, with one leg currently detached but complete with leg, joint, and connecting spring for restoration and one hand having finger damage. Detailed painted fingers and toes are present. The boy is dressed in a sewn-on green velvet suit with a lace-trimmed cream shirt, period-appropriate for the era. The original shoes show damage and are included. This lot offers collectors an example of German character dolls from a premium maker, with restoration potential. **Shipping Notice: Due to the delicate nature of the doll's sleep eye mechanism, any shipped doll will arrive with the wig and skull cap removed, and the eyes secured to help minimize the risk of damage during transit. Please expect this if you require shipping. Because of the additional time and care required to prepare the doll for safe shipment, an additional handling fee may apply. These dolls are exceptionally fragile, and while we take the greatest care in packing and securing every item, shipping always carries an inherent risk. By requesting shipping, you acknowledge and accept the possibility of damage that may occur during transit.
