This highly collectible 21-inch German Minerva doll, possibly by Buschow & Beck, dates to the late nineteenth or early twentieth century. It features a rare and desirable painted tin head with molded blonde curls, lovely glass inset eyes, and detailed painted facial accents. The innovative metal head was patented to prevent shattering, a common issue among porcelain dolls of that period, and makes surviving examples such as this exceptional. The doll comes on its original articulated kid leatheror oilcloth body, retains jointed limbs with composition lower arms, molded attached shoes, and woven knit socks. It shows historical patina and authentic wear, particularly at the shoulder-plate fabric connection, consistent with its age. This is a beautifully preserved piece of dollmaking history, showcasing classic engineering and enduring appeal. Paired dress, underclothing and Lacey apron.
