An Italian glazed earthenware soup tureen set consisting of a footed bowl, a domed lid topped with a putto finial, and a matching oval underplate. The set is decorated with molded Neo-Rococo rocaille scrolls, lattice panels, and hand-modeled applied ceramic flowers. Hand-painted accents in manganese-purple and ochre-brown detail the creamy white glaze throughout. The base of the underplate is stamped MADE IN ITALY and includes a handwritten red number 6. Underplate: 19.5 x 14 inchesTotal height: 16 inches.Scattered small chips are present on the delicate petals of the applied flowers and the tips of the raised scrolls. Minor wear is visible on the hand-painted accents along with localized glaze loss on protruding edges. General surface grime consistent with age is present throughout.
