This mid-century Japanese silk embroidery depicts a traditional castle tower set within a misty mountainous landscape. The work is executed using varied thread thicknesses on a silk ground and includes an embroidered orange maker's seal in the lower-left corner. A handwritten inscription on the reverse indicates the piece was a gift from Japan dated September 13, 1963.Overall Frame: 16.5 x 14 inchesThe embroidery is in good condition with no visible thread losses or fraying. The silk ground and surrounding paper mat display significant foxing and age-related yellowing. The gold-tone frame shows minor surface abrasions, and the cardboard backing has a small puncture near the hanger.
