Scarce antique late 19th century German Thuringian porcelain egg shaped jar or urn. Decorated in the Dresden style with hand painted and applied floral encrusted roses and cherubs coming out of the sides and a putto cherub sitting on the lid of the jar. Blue and gold trim around the foot. Unmarked except for an impressed mold number and a puce number on the base. Probably produced in Thuringia. Has some wear to the gilding, numerous flakes and chips to the encrusted flowers and leaves, several chips to the edge of the lid. The cherub on the lid appears to be undamaged. However, the cherub with the purple hat has a repaired chip to his hat and one of his hands has been repaired, the cherub with the blue hat also has repairs and over painting to the hat, and the piece above the yellow hat on the third cherub has been repaired and over painted. Measures approximately 8 7/8 inches wide including the cherubs x 12 1/4 inches tall to the top of the cherub on the lid.
