A pair of silk embroideries with satin and forbidden stitch have been bordered with gold thread and then framed together with black brocade. They depict Chinese generals with nobles bowing to them. They are surrounded by gold thread peaches and bats both symbols of happiness and wealth. The piece has been backed with a silk fabric with a very open-weave. There is an old paper label on the back that reads MADE IN CHINA and the number 4651. There is also a blue ink stamped circle with the same wording MADE IN CHINA. There are two more stamps at the base that I am unable to read. One is red and the other a blue oval. MEASUREMENTS 27" (68.6 cm) long x 11 ½" (29.2 cm) wide. Weighs 2.6 oz (75 g) CONDITION There is some soiling and fading of the silk. I can see about two tiny pin holes. They are in very good shape for the age. I couldn't find any loose threads on the embroideries, although there is some fraying of the black brocade frame. A nice matched pair of embroideries that are colorful and rich with gold thread. Period: 1930s Origin: China Materials: Silk Dimensions: 11.5"W × 0.2"D × 27"H
