A heavy cast iron bookend with a bas-relieve design of the George Washington National Masonic Memorial located in Alexandria, VA. The bookend that has deep casting with a brown patina. The design is elaborate with good line quality. An applied plaque on the base reads GEORGE WASHINGTON NATIONAL MASONIC MEMORIAL. The artistry and aesthetic of the design is from the 1920's. The base has an old green felt. The number 966 and stylized letters "CJO" are stamped on the back near the center. This is a hallmark for Judd. MEASUREMENTS 5 ¼ in (13.3 cm) long x 1 7/8 in (4.8 cm) deep x 5 ½ in (13.3 cm) tall. Weighs 2 lbs. 6.5 oz. CONDITION There are no breaks, chips, cracks, or repairs. There is moderate wear and a few scratches to the brown patina. The felt shows age. A unique cast iron bookend to add to a collection or to hold up books on a shelf.
