A thin cranberry glass vase that has been overlaid with white glass and then carved in the design of the goddess Athena spinning her yarn. It is a work of art that would be difficult to duplicate today. The cranberry glass is thin and translucent, with a subtle swirling pattern. There is also a white cut out border at the mouth. The base is flat with no foot. The word CAMEO within a lozenge cartouche has been overlaid on the base. MEASUREMENTS 9 ¼ in (23.5 cm) tall x 5 ¼ in (13.3 cm) diameter. Weighs 1 lb 8.3 oz. CONDITION There are no breaks, cracks, or repairs. There is a chip on the foot and wear on the base. The body itself shows very little wear. There is still a bit of dirt embedded in the folds of the white design. An artistic, hands-on vase by a major 19th Century glass artist that has survived to today. The delicacy is incredible. Period: Late 19th Century Origin: United Kingdom Materials: Glass Dimensions: 5.25"W × 5.25"D × 9.25"H
