A heavy, rustic brown pot with a hand sculpted bamboo handle with a strong folk-art feel. The handle has a lot of accurate detail from the roots to the leaves. It has been glazed on interior and exterior with an iron brown glaze. The foot is slightly raised with a square cut. The glazed base has two grouping of characters. MEASUREMENTS 7" (17.8 cm) diameter x 8 1/4" (21.0 cm) wide x 6 ¾" (17.1 cm) tall. Weighs 3 lb 11.0 oz (1680 g) CONDITION A small piece of the root has chipped off, and there is a small chip on the edge of the foot. There are no other cracks, chips, or breaks. The glaze has some mineral spotting. A very decorative piece with great sculpting. Period: Late 19th Century Origin: China Materials: Stoneware Dimensions: 8.25"W × 7"D × 6.75"H
