A large hand thrown vase with green at the mouth transitioning to blue was made in the year 1915. A very heavy, hand thrown vase has been covered in a thick blue-green glaze with visual texture. A flat, very shallow cut foot and been partially glazed and ground. The base is glazed in a brown color. There is the Rookwood mark on the base. Under the backward letters with flames are the Roman numerals XV. There is also an old Marshall Field and Co. paper label with the original price of 30.00 Retail. MEASUREMENTS 13 ½" (34.3 cm) tall x 9 ½" (24.1 cm) diameter. Weighs 9 lbs 4.8 oz (4215 g) CONDITION The vase was lamped and there is now a hole in the center of the base. There are some abrasions to the mid-section of one side of the body. There are kiln flaws, such as a bulge in the body, glaze runs, and reserve spots. A very large unusual Rookwood vase with that hands-on potter manufacture. It will fit in with many decors from Mid-Century to Arts and Crafts.
