Lot of educational reference books exploring the human brain, psychology, neuroscience, thought and nervous system. The book collection includes: 1. The Brain: Mystery of Matter and Mind Vintage hardcover volume from The Human Body series, published by U.S. News Books, Washington, D.C. The copyright page identifies Jack Fincher as the author and shows ISBNs including 0-89193-601-7 and 0-89193-631-9. The book is extensively illustrated and runs approximately 160 pages. This book provides an illustrated introduction to the human brain and nervous system. Chapters cover brain anatomy, electrochemical activity, language, intelligence and creativity, memory, emotion, consciousness, development and aging. It includes a glossary, photographic credits and index. This is primarily a general-interest, educational, science, and reference book rather than a medical textbook. Good used vintage condition. Red cloth spine and illustrated boards show moderate rubbing, edge and corner wear. Some wear is visible at the spine ends and along the board edges. Interior pages appear generally clean and bright, with attractive red endpapers. Binding is intact and secure. No dust jacket. 2. The Mind, Life Science Library Vintage Life Science Library hardcover by John Rowan Wilson and the Editors of Time-Life Books, published by Time-Life Books, New York, copyright 1971, and contains 200 pages. A heavily illustrated exploration of psychology, neuroscience and human thought. Subjects include the nervous system, perception, mental illness, psychoanalysis, learning, intelligence, hypnosis, drugs, consciousness and the future study of the mind. Chapters alternate with photographic picture essays, making it characteristic of the highly visual Time-Life educational series. Fair used vintage condition. The illustrated hardcover has substantial rubbing and edge/corner wear, particularly at the spine ends. The back cover has significant areas of black residue/marking or surface loss, which is the largest condition issue. Corners are bumped and worn. Interior brown endpapers and pages shown are generally clean, and the binding is intact and secure.
