College-level ecology textbook by Manuel C. Molles, Jr., University of New Mexico. This is the Second Edition, published by McGraw-Hill Higher Education around 2001–2002. The ISBN is 0-07-029416-X / 978-0-07-029416-5. Current bibliographic listings identify this edition as a softcover of approximately 586 pages. The book provides a broad introduction to the science of ecology and the relationships between organisms and their environments. It covers ecological principles at multiple levels, including individual organisms, populations, communities, ecosystems and landscapes. Major themes include environmental conditions and resources, species adaptations, population ecology, competition and predation, community structure, biodiversity, energy flow, nutrient cycling, aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, biogeography and ecological applications. The text uses real-world studies and examples to connect ecological theory with environmental research and practical applications. Fair used condition. The binding is intact and the book remains usable, but there is noticeable wear. The glossy covers have surface rubbing, scratches and creasing, with curled/bent corners and edge wear. The front cover has a prominent vertical crease. The page block shows handling wear and light soiling, including a small green mark along the lower edge. Most notably, the title and copyright pages show brownish staining or moisture-related discoloration along the bottom edge, with some wrinkling in this area. The interior pages otherwise appear readable and intact.
