Children’s humorous chapter book by Louis Sachar, Newbery Medal-winning author of Holes, with illustrations by Adam McCauley. This is a Scholastic paperback school-market edition, ISBN 978-0-545-31540-1. The copyright page states the text was originally copyrighted in 1995, the illustrations in 2003, and this particular edition was first printed in September 2010. It contains approximately 168 pages. This is the third novel in the original Wayside School series. The stories return to the bizarre thirty-story Wayside School, where Mrs. Jewls teaches on the thirtieth floor and strange, impossible and comical things are routine. Chapters include “A Message from the Principal,” “Pet Day,” “A Bad Word,” “Santa Claus,” “The New Teacher,” “Mr. Gorf,” “Voices,” and “Nose.” The book uses short, funny episodes and absurd situations, making it especially accessible to elementary and middle-grade readers. Good to Very Good used condition. The paperback binding is firm and intact, with a straight, readable spine. The green illustrated covers remain bright and glossy. There is light-to-moderate shelf wear, including small corner bends, edge rubbing and minor surface marks. The lower spine front corner shows a little more rubbing and compression. Page edges have light handling wear, but the interior pages appear clean, bright and unmarked, with no obvious tears, stains or writing.
