Children's Book Bundle 3

This is a mixed group of vintage illustrated children’s books, spanning roughly the 1960s through the 1990s. The lot combines several classic types of children’s literature. Overall, the books are in Fair to Good used condition, and vary between books. These books are clearly well-loved reading copies rather than collector-grade examples. There is noticeable rubbing, scratches, worn and bumped corners, spine wear, chipping, age toning, surface soiling and some cover deformation. 1. Dr. Seuss’s Sleep Book, Random House hardcover with a 1962 copyright, is a rhyming bedtime story in which a yawn spreads from creature to creature. The Dr. Seuss book has particularly important condition issues: previous-owner writing on the front endpaper, a significant tear at the top of a preliminary page, staining and soiling along the lower margins, edge and corner wear, and visible wear separation around the inner hinge. 2. Walt Disney’s The Jungle Book, Mouse Works/Penguin Books USA edition with ISBN 0-453-03008-4, retells Disney’s story of Mowgli and his jungle adventures. The Disney book appears among the better-preserved books internally. 3. Sesame Street Presents Follow That Bird!, the Weekly Reader Children’s Book Club Edition, copyright 1985, is the illustrated storybook adaptation of the 1985 Sesame Street movie, featuring Big Bird and Jim Henson’s Sesame Street Muppets. The Follow That Bird! book has cover and binding wear but its interior pages remain colorful and readable. 4. Mother Goose illustrated by Tony Brice, a Checkerboard Press/Macmillan edition, copyright 1986, contains traditional nursery rhymes such as “There Was an Old Woman” and “Bobby Shaftoe,” accompanied by colorful Tony Brice illustrations. Mother Goose shows moderate exterior wear but the illustrated pages appear reasonably clean and bright.
