A pair of studio pottery plates comprising one large charger and one smaller dish, each of square form with rounded corners and a circular foot rim. The pieces are constructed from a coarse terracotta earthenware and finished with a mottled ferruginous reddish-brown glaze featuring dense, irregular black speckling. The decoration is executed using a sgraffito technique, with stylised motifs incised through the glaze to reveal a pale sandy-textured clay body beneath. The design features four stylised birds flying towards a central square containing a spiral maze-like motif, interspersed with diamond-shaped motifs with further spirals. A decorative border with periodic zigzag accents runs around the perimeter. The aesthetic is in the style of contemporary Indonesian terracotta pottery. Dimensions (measured against a tape measure showing inches): Large plate: approx. 26.7 cm wide Small plate: approx. 15.2 cm wide. Condition: Both plates exhibit fine, age-related crazing to the glaze surface. There is light surface wear and minor scratching consistent with age and use. No chips, cracks, or evidence of repair are present.
